Celebrants Scotland is a collective of 15 fabulous, fun, and friendly wedding celebrants all based across Scotland's Central Belt, Ayrshire, Lothian, and Argyle.

We were founded by Susan Miller and Andy McWilliam—both award-winning, internationally-acclaimed wedding celebrants who are passionate about creating truly personal, joyful ceremonies. After years of conducting hundreds of unique weddings, they decided to bring together like-minded celebrants under one roof, so couples could easily find their perfect match from a handpicked team.

Our mission? To share all the fun, knowledge, and expertise with our celebrants—and with you! We believe every ceremony should be as unique as the couple getting married, packed with personality, laughter, and genuine warmth. We're not about one-size-fits-all; we're about creating ceremonies that feel completely you.

Whether you're after big energy and sparkle, heartfelt and intimate, or something totally unexpected—we've got a celebrant whose vibe matches yours. We're here to make planning your ceremony a breeze, guide you through the legal stuff, and show up on your big day ready to make some magic.

That's who we are: a team of celebrants who genuinely love being celebrants, and who can't wait to help you celebrate your love story!

A celebrant is a trained professional who creates and conducts personalised, legally-binding wedding ceremonies in Scotland. Unlike a registrar (who performs civil ceremonies in a formal setting) or a vicar/priest (who conducts religious ceremonies), celebrants work with you to craft a completely bespoke ceremony that reflects your unique love story, values, and personality—whether you're an atheist, religious, secular, or anywhere in between. We love and celebrate Love!

Yes! All our Celebrants Scotland team are fully trained and authorised to conduct legally-binding, solemnised weddings in Scotland. Your ceremony will be just as legal as any registry office wedding, but infinitely more personal.

It's simple! You'll book an initial chat with your chosen celebrant through our online booking system. You'll get to know each other, share your love story and what matters to you both, and the celebrant will then craft a unique ceremony script. You'll have chances to review and tweak it until it's perfect. On the day, they'll deliver your ceremony with confidence and warmth.

Our celebrants all charge the same, as they are all fabulous. Our total costs for each year are: 2026 - £ 595.00 | 2027 - £625.00 | 2028 - £650.00 | 2029 - £675. We'd recommend getting in touch with your chosen celebrant directly sooner rather than later as they all get booked up quickly, especially for popular dates. All our couples, as reflected in their reviews, find celebrant services represent excellent value for the personalisation and superior service you receive.

Absolutely yes! We love marrying couples from all over the world. Getting married in Scotland when one or both partners are from abroad is entirely possible and increasingly common.

Here's what you need to know: Scotland has relatively straightforward legal requirements for international marriages.

The key is advance notice—you'll need to give notice to your local registrar at least 29 days, preferable 3 month,  before your wedding. As long as you're both over 16 and legally free to marry (no existing marriages), you can get married in Scotland regardless of where you're from. (Slightly different age restrictions apply to English couples travelling to Scotland to marry)

Our celebrants are experienced with international couples and understand the varying requirements that might apply depending on your home countries. We'll guide you through where to find out this information re any visa or residency considerations, and make sure everything is legally watertight.

Many couples find that getting married in Scotland is actually simpler than they expected—and having a celebrant who can explain the process makes all the difference.

Top tip: Book your celebrant early if you're travelling from abroad, so there's plenty of time to sort logistics and get to know them before the big day.

YES—we absolutely help you! One of the brilliant things about working with a Celebrants Scotland celebrant is that we guide you through all the legal bits, so you don't have to figure it out alone.

Your celebrant will:

  • Explain exactly what legal documents you need and when
  • Help you understand the notice requirements for your local registrar
  • Guide you through the process of submitting your intention to marry
  • Make sure all your paperwork is correct before the big day
  • Answer any questions about the legal side of things

We're knowledgeable about Scottish marriage law and experienced in making sure everything runs smoothly. While you'll need to submit some forms to your registrar (we'll tell you exactly which ones and help you understand them), your celebrant is absolutely here to support and advise you every step of the way.

We'd recommend booking as soon as you have your wedding date and venue is confirmed - especially for more popular summer dates.  We will always try to accommodate shorter notice depending on availability. The earlier you book, the more time your celebrant has to really get to know your story and craft something truly special.

Each of our 15 celebrants has a unique personality and style! We always recommend reading through their profiles on our website, checking out their individual websites and social media, and looking at their reviews. Then book a first chat meeting—it's the perfect way to meet them, ask questions, and see if you click. That personal connection is really important.

Yes! While our celebrants are based across Scotland's Central Belt, Ayrshire, Lothian and Argyle, many are happy to travel throughout Scotland and beyond. Get in touch with your chosen celebrant to discuss your location—we're confident we can help make it work.

Our celebrants love creating ceremonies that reflect what matters to you. Whether you want to include handfasting, unity ceremonies, readings from different cultures, blessings, or any other meaningful traditions, your celebrant will work with you to weave these elements beautifully into your personalised ceremony.

Yes! Many of our celebrants also conduct naming ceremonies for new babies and adoptions, and some offer funeral and memorial ceremonies. If you're interested in any of these services, please get in touch with us or visit individual celebrant websites for details.
